What type of workshops do I teach?

  • I have been painting with pastels for 32 years and have been teaching it for 15 years.
  • At present I teach only pastel workshops but you never know ☺
  • I have a different style of working for still life (realism), landscape (impressionistic) and portraiture (semi-impressionistic)  Pick your workshop accordingly.
  • I do not teach weekly classes as the free spirit in me doesn't like too many appointments. ♥
  • I do teach portraiture on occasion.  These classes include completing the initial drawing through to the finished piece in class with the use of photographs.  I may in future bring in a live model. Upcoming portraiture workshops are announced in my newsletter and usually fill very quickly.
  • At present I do plein air only for my own enjoyment except on art holidays.
  • I teach framing and matting workshops when I have enough requests.  These entail painting a small piece in class and framing it using my supplies and equipment along with your frames. They are very often held in conjunction with a pre-Christmas workshop when people are thinking of small art gifts for family and friends.

New to Art Classes?   New to my classes?

  • Absolute beginners fit well into all of my workshops and my method of teaching whereby everyone can participate in their own version of my demo means that as I circulate the room giving instructions, I most often repeat the same instruction time and again giving newcomers the opportunity to see it done or hear it explained more than once.
  • Don't have pastels?   Check out my beginner bonus here
  • I have rudimentary easels with lamps in my studio but if you have a favourite you wish to bring, please feel free to do so.
